Old Stratford Primary School

Year 2

'Creating Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Everyone'

Welcome to Year 2

Year 2 is a vital stage in children’s primary school journey, where we continue to strengthen key learning skills while preparing pupils for the increased independence and expectations of Key Stage 2. Building on the foundations from Year 1, children develop greater confidence, resilience and responsibility for their learning.

Our approach focuses on deepening skills in reading, writing and mathematics through engaging, purposeful and challenging learning experiences. Pupils are encouraged to think more independently, organise their work and take pride in achieving their personal best.

We place great importance on social development, communication and emotional well-being. Children learn to work collaboratively, follow routines and show kindness, respect and empathy towards others. Clear expectations and consistent support ensure that every child feels safe, valued and ready to succeed.

Year 2 is a happy, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where children are supported to develop the skills, confidence and positive attitudes needed for a successful transition into Key Stage 2.

Here you can view our Curriculum Newsletter which will tell you all about what your child will be learning this term.
