Old Stratford Primary School

Year 6

'Creating Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Everyone'

Welcome to Year 6

Year 6 is the final stage of pupils’ primary school journey, where children are prepared for the transition to secondary education and the next chapter of their learning. We set high expectations for effort, attitude and achievement, while continuing to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Our approach focuses on building strong academic knowledge alongside independence, organisation and effective study habits. Pupils are encouraged to take full ownership of their learning, think critically and rise to challenge. We promote resilience, reflection and ambition, helping children to develop confidence in their abilities and pride in their achievements.

As the oldest pupils in the school, Year 6 children are valued role models and leaders. They are given opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork and responsibility, while being supported to grow socially and emotionally. We ensure pupils are well prepared for the routines, expectations and independence of secondary school.

Year 6 is a positive, inclusive and aspirational environment where pupils are encouraged to take risks, ask questions and strive to be the best version of themselves as they complete their primary education and prepare for the future.
